RHD Research and Symposium: A Collaborative Event Cardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program Udayana University and Yale University


The Cardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program, FK Unud together with Yale University held a Rheumatic Heart Disease Symposium and joint research entitled "Prevalence of RHD In Bali, Indonesia Research Study".

The symposium was held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the 4th Floor Meeting Room, Integrated Heart Service Building, Prof. RSUP. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah.

The event was started with a speech from the Headmaster of Cardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program Udayana University, dr. I Made Putra Swi Antara Sp. JP(K)., FIHA and continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes.


In his Speech Dr. dr. Januartha conveyed the importance of this activity as an effort to realize one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, named Community Service.


Besides, this activity also aims to encourage students to be able to carry out more and more quality research activities in the future. On the other hand, this activity can also provide opportunities for people in remote areas to get access to RHD special heart screening services from an early age.

At this event, invited guests including staff and lecturers of the Cardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University and residents of theCardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine Udayana University were also present.

Cardiology and Vascular Specialist Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine together with Yale University also carried out research activities related to the prevalence of RHD in Bali. A similar activity was carried out in 2017 which was a pilot study. Furthermore, this year's activity is a follow-up activity in the form of a real study which is carried out simultaneously and gradually. The activity will be held from September to October 2022.

The activities carried out were in the form of screening activities by conducting an echocardiography examination on randomly selected junior and senior high school children. This activity was carried out as a form of good future cooperation between Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University and Yale University.
